We understand that every industry has unique connectivity challenges. Explore how Molex connectors support mission-critical infrastructure across diverse sectors.
From 5G macro cells to FTTx last-mile deployments, our fiber optic and RF connectors meet the exacting requirements of carrier-grade networks. Molex connectors are designed for IEC 61300 compliance with insertion loss specifications that exceed industry benchmarks.
High-density MPO/MTP connectivity for spine-leaf architectures, 400G-ready structured cabling solutions, and pre-terminated trunk assemblies that reduce installation time by up to 70% compared to field termination.
Ruggedized connectors rated IP67 and above for factory floors, process control environments, and outdoor installations. Built to withstand vibration, extreme temperatures (-40 to +85 degrees C), and chemical exposure per MIL-STD-810.
IATF 16949 certified connectors for in-vehicle networking, EV charging infrastructure, and railway signaling systems. Our automotive connectors undergo rigorous vibration, thermal cycling, and salt spray testing to ensure long-term reliability.
Precision micro-connectors and fiber assemblies for diagnostic imaging equipment, patient monitoring systems, and surgical instruments. Biocompatible materials and cleanroom manufacturing ensure compliance with medical device regulations.
MIL-STD-810 qualified connectors for ruggedized communication systems, radar, electronic warfare, and satellite ground stations. Designed for the most demanding environmental conditions with EMI shielding and secure locking mechanisms.
Choosing the right connector requires understanding where each technology performs well — and where it does not. Here are key limitations to factor into your design.
Standard single-mode fiber connectors require a minimum bend radius of 30 mm (15 mm for bend-insensitive G.657.A2 fiber). Exceeding this limit increases insertion loss and can cause permanent fiber damage. High-density patch panels must be designed with adequate cable routing space — a common oversight in retrofit installations where existing ductwork was sized for copper.
Every RF connector type has an upper frequency boundary beyond which performance degrades. SMA connectors are rated to 18 GHz (26.5 GHz for precision variants), while standard N-type connectors are limited to 11 GHz. For mmWave 5G applications above 24 GHz, specialized 2.92 mm or 1.85 mm connectors are required, at significantly higher cost and with tighter torque specifications (typically 0.9 N-m for 2.92 mm).
IP67-rated connectors maintain their seal only when properly mated — an unmated IP67 connector exposed to weather offers no protection. Additionally, all connectors have finite mating cycle ratings: standard LC connectors are rated for 500-1,000 cycles, while industrial M12 connectors typically support 100-500 cycles depending on contact plating. Applications requiring frequent reconnection should specify connectors with higher cycle ratings upfront.
